Update Central | Restoration Progress | Campaign Progress

After the purchase of the Heritage property in late September 2004, immediate work began. The first milestone was the restoration of the hotel lobby and its entranceways to house MorningStar's Charlotte area church. On December 5, 2004, our first service was held at H.I.M. in the hotel lobby, which was exactly seven years to the day after it had closed on December 5, 1997. By the end of 2005, our Charlotte church, offices, and School of Ministry (MSM) were moved over to the new facilities.

Recent Advancements

Heritage Grand Opening!
At this year’s Harvest Conference, we celebrated the ribbon cutting and Grand Opening of Heritage International Ministries. Nearly all of our hotel rooms are now available for stay, with over 400 rooms offered between the Hotel and over Main Street.

New Hospitality for Partners
We have opened the brand new MorningStar Partners Hospitality Suite in the old Little Theatre on Main Street, and encourage all of our partners to stop by during the next conference you attend. The Conference Center Café, ballroom, and breakout rooms are open, doubling the amount of conferences that we can host at our facilities. Heritage is once again a fully operational training and equipping center for the body of Christ, and we are excited to watch this property grow into the destiny the Lord planned for it.

Tower
We are excited to announce our plans to turn the tower into a retirement center, or a Refirement Center as we call it. We want this to be a place for our elders to launch into the most fruitful years of their lives, engaging in ministry, missions, intercession, and ministering to the needy. On Monday, November 5, MorningStar passed its third and final public hearing on the rezoning of the property to allow for the completion of the historic 21-story high-rise on the property. Our goal is to start construction by spring 2008, with an estimated two years to complete development. For more information and a free Refirement Center packet please email: refirecenter@morningstarministries.org or click here.

Apartments
We have completed construction on our Main Street apartments. Each apartment is three hotel rooms combined, complete with a kitchen, two bathrooms, a bedroom, and a living area. The apartments are fully furnished with eloquent furniture and dining ware.

Construction In Progress

Courtyard, Bunkhouses, and Exterior Face Work
We are now beginning the long awaited construction on Heritage’s unique courtyard, located in the center of the H.I.M. Hotel. Since our purchase of Heritage in 2004, the courtyard has not been the most visually pleasing sight to guests staying in the many rooms facing it. This will not last much longer, as we have begun construction, removing the old concrete work and adding an entirely new, professionally-designed layout and landscaping, as well as repairing and repainting the entire fascia of the hotel on all four floors facing the courtyard. This will bring the courtyard back to its original intent—to be a beautiful social gathering place and prayer niche within the heart of the Heritage Hotel.

We are also in the midst of finishing construction on bunkhouses for the dorm students enrolled in our School of Ministry. Located on our property just across Star Light Drive, where the old campground formerly was, the bunkhouses are fully furnished, apartment-style living accommodations, and perfect for our international ministry school students and other students who wish to live on campus. The dorms were formerly housed in a section of rooms in the Heritage Hotel, so once the bunkhouses are finished, they will free up more hotel rooms for guests to enjoy during our conferences.

In addition, we are currently revamping the face work on the exterior of H.I.M. Repair to deteriorated molding and fascia is being fixed and a fresh coat of paint is adding a clean sparkle to the building. Our landscaping and construction crews are working to create a beautiful exterior to Heritage.
